Jenny Lundgren (b. 1975) holds an MFA from the University of Applied Arts Vienna (1999–2004). She lives and works in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden and Vienna, Austria. Jenny has participated in solo and group exhibitions in, among other places, Sweden, Denmark, and Austria. She has worked with public art and is represented in several regions and municipalities in Sweden as well as in Austria.
She works with painting that moves between the figurative and the abstract. Departing from classical motifs such as still lifes, portraits, and landscapes, she explores the possibilities of color and form in relation to one another.
“Through reduction and abstraction, I seek in the working process to discover something new and unexpected—something that surprises and feels relevant. It is always in the process that something of value emerges. In sweeping gestures, in layer upon layer, in unexpected encounters between colors, at the boundary between the opaque and the transparent—that is where it becomes interesting.”
